Galway's Jonathan Glynn accidentally said "f***ing bulls***" on live TV

A dominant Galway side proved to be far too much for Cork to handle as they eased their way to a 12 point win over Jimmy Barry Murphy's men today in Thurles.

The game was hardly underway when Jonathan Glynn went on a spectacular solo run that saw him flick the ball over the last defender’s head before slotting it home. That score proved to be decisive in the first half as Cork, who looked to be disorganised at the back, managed to stay in contention by taking their points.

The tribesmen were guilty of missing a number of scores that would have seen them go in at the break with a huge advantage, but at one stage in the first half had registered nine wides to Cork’s two. However, Jimmy Barry Murphy would have been glad of the half-time break as the plethora of opportunities Galway were afforded came as a result of the sweeper system that Cork had been employing being in complete disarray.

That sloppy finishing meant that Cork stayed in contention into the second half, with Galway unable to translate their dominance in play onto the scoreboard. Joe Canning wasn’t having his best day at the office either, as he continued to take some low percentage efforts. He eventually took his wide tally to six, at which point Joe Cooney decided it was time to step in and let him know that he needed to be more careful in possession.

That was the story of the second half as a whole, as Galway continued to rack up the wides, but Cork didn’t help their case after Damien Cahalane got himself sent off for grabbing Joe Cooney’s helmet as he rushed past him, making their afternoon’s work even more difficult.

Galway’s position as the better side was never really in doubt htough, and they added a second goal in the 65th minute through Conor Walsh, whose performance to that point merited getting his name on the score sheet. There was no one at home for Cork in defence as they pushed on in a desperate effort to get back in to the game, leaving Jonathan Glynn the simple task of laying it down for Whelan to slam it past Anthony Nash.

Galway added a few more scores before the final whistle to cap off a commanding second-half performance as they ran out as winners by a score of 2-28 to 0-22.

Jonathan Glynn, who was in great form today, put paid to the notion that Galway only had one forward with some NSFW language in the post-match interview.

After his side's lacklustre display, Cork's Jimmy Barry Murphy spoke to Oisin Langan about what went wrong.
