Gary Neville responds to reports of tension with Roy Hodgson as 'absolute bulls**t'

Gary Neville has hit back at claims that tension between Roy Hodgson and his backroom staff were at the centre of England's lacklustre performances at Euro 2016.

Daniel Taylor of The Guardian reported yesterday that Hodgson's methods were openly questioned by coaching staff.

"“The players got on fine,” he quoted once source as saying, “It was the coaches who fell out.”

One incident that was indicative of the mixed messages and poor organisation of the England team was when one of the players turned to the sideline during their 2-1 defeat to Iceland and asked where he was supposed to be playing.

Neville was sacked from the manager's position at Valencia following a horrible time on the continent but continued working as a coach within England's set-up under Hodgson. The 41-year-old took to social media and replied to the tweet with the article requesting an apology.

The report says, "While the players were generally supportive of Hodgson and angered by reports that they questioned Raheem Sterling’s selection in the Iceland game, the fact they took it upon themselves to remove Harry Kane from corner-taking duties indicates they were not always happy with the manager’s tactics.
