He has played in one league, and managed in another so when it comes to comparing the quality of the Premier League and La Liga, Gary Neville is better qualified than most.

While many people, especially in the British media, call the Premier League "the best league in the World", Neville thinks that title belongs to La Liga.

The former Valencia manager was speaking on Monday to the Oxford Union Debating Society, about his career as a player, when the topic of league strengths came up.

Having won eight Premier Leagues with Manchester United, Neville spent less than a year with Valencia as manager winning ten of his 28 games as manager.

In recent years, La Liga clubs have also dominated in European competitions. Since Chelsea were the last team to win the Champions League in 2012, Real Madrid and Barcelona have won three of the subsequent four finals, with Atletico Madrid, finishing as runners-up twice.
