Ger Brennan hits out at suggestions that St. Vincent's chase players

Ger Brennan added another Leinster medal to his collection on Sunday afternoon as his St. Vincent's side claimed a win over Rhode.

The Dublin club were too strong for their Offaly counterparts, and had pulled seven points clear by the final whistle as they claimed their third title in four years, which put them level with Portlaoise on seven total wins in the province.

Brennan was shown a black card for his foul on Niall McNamee before half-time, but it was the issue of players from outside Dublin togging out for the club that he was asked to address in the wake of the game.

Speaking to RTÉ, Brennan gave the line of questioning short shrift, stating that it was merely the fact that Dublin is the nation's capital that has seen so many players pull on the shirt of the Marino side.

"Dublin is the capital of our country, there's over a million people there living and working," Brennan said. "If a guy is living and working in the area and he wants to play Gaelic football, then why not?

"There’s definitely no policy, nor has there ever been a policy, within Vincent’s to be recruiting players or chasing players. You've Enda Varley there, Lorcan Smyth, Fiachra Breathnach and Brendan [Egan] has been playing with us for years and years. All those guys are living and working in the area."
