Giants stumble in Philadelphia as Cowboys win the NFC East

Philadelphia Eagles defeated New York Giants on Thursday night in a surprise result, that handed Dallas Cowboys the NFC East title, and guaranteed the team the NFC top seed.

The 24-19 win was Philadelphia's first in six games, as they look to finish the season on a positive. The loss for the Giants means they are still on course to reach the playoffs, but only as a wildcard team. If results go their way, the Giants could book their playoff spot by Christmas Day.

Despite being on the losing side and failing to score, it was a historic night for Odell Beckham Jr. The Giants wide receiver reached 4,000 career yards in the loss. In the history of the NFL, he is the joint-quickest player to reach the achievement, along with Hall of Fame inductee Lance Alworth. Both players reached the feat in 42 matches.

It was a night to forget for Eli Manning. The two-time SuperBowl MVP threw three interceptions as the Eagles' defensive group, especially safety Malcolm Jenkins thrived. Jenkins intercepted twice including returning one for a touchdown in the win.

If any of Green Bay, Detroit, Atlanta or Tampa Bay lose this weekend, the Giants will guarantee a wildcard spot, and potentially the fifth seed.
