Glimmer of hope as FAI detail how fans who missed out can still get Euros tickets

Fans around Ireland have been receiving the news on whether their ticket applications were successful since Friday, but for those who have missed out, there is still some hope.

In a statement, the Football Association of Ireland said that they "will endeavour to cater for the most loyal Republic of Ireland supporters who missed out on UEFA EURO 2016 tickets" in the first round of allocations.

Explaining how the system worked, the FAI outlined that "preference was given to Supporters Clubs, Season Ticket holders, Fans Direct members, and supporters who have accumulated a significant number of points from their proven match attendance record".

However, given there were over 275,000 applications, there were always going to be some disappointed supporters.

However, they noted that the association has 2,000 tickets in reserve, which were distributed by UEFA to all participating national associations, and they will be distributed to help soften the blow for those who have missed out on tickets through the UEFA application portal.

Again, the statement outlined that supporters would need "a proven match attendance record" if they wanted to be in contention to get any of the next allotment being doled out by the FAI.

For those that also miss out on this round of tickets, there's still the avenue of the re-sale platform, which is run directly by UEFA. Only those who got tickets through the platform can sell them on the portal, but it is open for anyone to purchase from once tickets become available.
