Lawrence Donegan joined Monday's Off the Ball to reflect on the performance of Tiger Woods at the Valspar Championship at the weekend.

Woods finished in second place - a shot behind Paul Casey but the omens are good for the 14 time major winner as he cranks up his return from a back injury.

"What really brought it home to me when you look at it this morning - the TV ratings in America were off the charts. I think they were the biggest since the Masters last year - something crazy like that," Lawrence told Joe.

"Woods and Snedeker got to the final green and Snedeker is butchering it and he says to Tiger: 'I'm going to finish' because Tiger's waiting on his birdie putt - and that's how it used to be. These guys knew that they better not play after Tiger because there'll just be bedlam, all sorts of chaos with the crowd and everything so he got his business done and out of the way so Tiger could have a go at his birdie putt to tie a lead.

"It really was like the old days  - the coverage in the states all this morning and all last night. It was wall-to-wall Tiger in all the sports coverage and then you go to the local news channels and the sports guy there, certainly in our area, and it's all Tiger.

"He really has re-captivated the imagination, not just the golfing public but the general public. He is, by far and away, still the most important thing in the game," he added.
