Graeme McDowell facing uphill battle to defend OHL Classic while Seamus Power soars

Graeme McDowell has made made the cut at the OHL Classic in Mexico, but defending his title looks to be in uncertain territory as he sits 11 strokes off the lead.

McDowell carded a six-under 65 to make the weekend cut and recover some of the damage from the opening round with eight birdies and two bogeys.

But leader Gary Woodland, who also carded a 65 after round two, leads on 13 under after hitting six birdies. The American is one shot clear of former US Open winner Webb Simpson, while Scott Piercy is in third place on 11 under.

Meanwhile, Irish Olympian Seamus Power has continued his strong start to life on the PGA circuit with a five under 66 to leave him just 5 adrift of the summit of the leaderboard.

Following a slew of birdies on the front nine, Power suffered a setback on the turn with bogeys on the 12th and 15th to sabotage his chances of breaking into the top 10 places. But he still remains in a good position on joint 11th with an impressive display that follows his strong showing at the Sanderson Farms Championship recently.
