Gus Hiddink to replace Jose Mourinho until the end of the season

Jose Mourinho was a lame duck at the helm of Chelsea. His long term replacement may not have been selected just yet but Roman Abramovich has reportedly picked Gus Hiddink as the man to fill the void in Chelsea's dugout for the remainder of the season.

Hiddink replaced the sacked Luiz Felipe Scolari in 2009 on an interim basis and had a relatively successful time as the manager of the club. He was not selected to take the job on a full-time basis, however, as Carlo Ancelotti was given the job the summer after the 2009-10 season.

Hiddink's last foray into management was a failed spell over his native Netherlands. He lasted just 15 months in charge of the international side as they failed to qualify for Euro 2016 in large part due to the results during his time in charge.

Ancelotti is currently out of work and was most recently linked with Zenit St. Petersburg but stalled on any advance from the Russian club. He had been previously linked with the Liverpool job also.
