Gutsy British challenger relishes underdog tag ahead of title fight against dominant Klitschko

Undefeated challenger Tyson Fury will attempt to rattle the world of boxing tonight and bring Vladimir Klitschko's impressive 10 year winning streak to an end which includes 18 successive title defenses.

The British fighter will step into the ring against a seemingly insurmountable opponent who is 12 years his senior and has only lost three times in his professional career, labeling him the favourite ahead of this bout.

This is Klitschko's second title defense in 2015 having already navigated past the challenge of Bryant Jennings back in April. Jennings lasted the 12 rounds but the judges gave the nod to the German based fighter to bring his number of consecutive title defenses to 18.

Klitschko's title defense in 2005 also lasted the 12 rounds before he was declared the winner by unanimous decision. The following year, he dusted off Chris Byrd and Calvin Brock with his devastating power. Last year, Klitschko accepted the challenge of the previously undefeated Kubrat Pulev. Pulev appeared to have the measure of the Ukrainian until Klitschko countered and landed two knockdowns on Pulev in the first round. The 39 year-old sent Pulev crashing to the canvas twice more before the fight concluded in the fifth round.

Fury on the other hand is considered to be talking up a good fight without much conviction according to boxing experts. If he does manage to out-maneuver the 39 year-old, it will be an upset to rival that of Buster Douglas's victory over Mike Tyson 25 years ago.

Speaking at the weigh-in which declared Klitschko to be the heavier fighter by one pound, Fury said:

'I relish the underdog tag, I'm a 4/1 underdog but Cassius Clay (Muhammad Ali) was a big underdog against Sonny Liston and he knocked him out. And so was Leon Spinks against the great Muhammad Ali and he won as well.' Fury has also added that he may consider retirement if he fails to defeat Klitschko tonight.

The fight will be aired live on Sky Sports tonight at 10pm.
