Tottenham Hostpur striker Harry Kane has claimed it would be "stupid" to leave the club now as the London side continue to impress in the league and prepare to move into their new stadium.

Spurs are currently on a run of six wins and a draw which included a 2-0 humbling of Chelsea at White Hart Lane.

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport the England forward said: "I would be surprised if any of my team-mates were to leave now.

"Something's going on here, we're just missing that last step - to win trophies. It would be stupid to leave now.

"We have one of the best managers in the world, perhaps the best. Soon there will be a new stadium. The future is promising," he added.

Tottenham are nine points behind leaders Chelsea and are currently in Barcelona for a spell of warm weather training.

Maurico Pochettino's side are due to host Wycombe Wanderers in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday before they head to the Stadium of Light to face Sunderland the following Tuesday. Chelsea face Liverpool at Anfield on the same night as the race for the title heats up.
