How high can Leicester City finish in the Premier League this season?

With three games to go until the midway point in the Premier League season, Leicester City are two points clear at the top of the table.

Claudio Ranieri's side are only nine points behind last season's total of 41 points. They still have 23 games left this season and are only two wins away from matching last season's total of 11 wins.

In Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez, the Foxes have two of the three top scorers in the Premier League scoring 24 goals between them. Vardy has grabbed the headlines, for scoring in 11 consecutive Premier League games.

On last night's Off the Ball, Joe Molloy spoke to club legend Steve Claridge and Ian Stringer of BBC Radio Leicester about the season so far under Claudio Ranieri. Claridge played for the side when they won the League Cup in 1997, scoring the winner in the Final Replay against Middlesbrough.

"This is one of them seasons, where everyone is trying not to win it... There is no-one you will say that 'They will defiantly finish above Leicester'", Claridge told the show. "Long make this continue, because they are a wonderful club".

The Italian manager took charge of the club at the beginning of the season to a muted response from fans and pundits but has changed very little, from Nigel Pearson's reign last season. Stringer thinks that Ranieri is "smart and clever" and keeping a lot of the backroom staff was crucial to the sides run along with some sensible transfers such as Austrian captain Christian Fuchs.

Ranieri's target has been 40 points since the start of the season, and Stringer says that has not changed despite their lofty heights. In the next six games, Leicester play four teams in the top half of the table. They are at home to Manchester City and face away games with Everton, Liverpool and Tottenham. They also face Chelsea next Monday night at home.
