Huddersfield and Leeds managers charged over confrontation

Huddersfield and Leeds have both been charged by the English FA following the scuffles that marred the end of their Championship clash on Sunday.

Michael Hefele's late winner for Huddersfield in the 2-1 result sparked a touchline confrontation between his manager David Wagner and his Leeds counterpart Garry Monk.

Both men have today been charged with improper conduct.

The clubs are also facing charges of failing to control their players.

They must respond to the charges by 6pm on Friday.

The FA confirmed: "It is alleged that in or around the 89th minute of the fixture, the two clubs failed to ensure their players and/or officials conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative behaviour, contrary to FA Rule E20(a).

"Both managers have also been charged in relation to the same game."

Five yellow cards were handed out to Leeds during the match, with Huddersfield receiving two bookings.

It's been a positive season for Leeds in the Championship in their first season under ex-Swansea City manager Monk, with the Yorkshire club sitting fifth and in the promotion playoff places.

The loss against Huddersfield was only the former Premier League side's second defeat in 10 games.

Huddersfield are also performing well and are one place and one point above Leeds in the hunt for promotion.
