"I think there is a GAA game on TV" - Shane Lowry is enjoying a few home comforts during his break at the US Open

After a superb succession of rounds at the US Open, Shane Lowry is deservedly sitting at the top of the tree on the final day of the US Open.

Dustin Johnson and surprise package Andrew Landry are leading the chase but for the moment, Lowry is controlling this tournament.

He resumed his third round earlier this morning at five under par with four holes to play. And his strong run of form continued, hitting two birdies to eventually sign for a 65 that put him on seven-under-par 203 at the finish.

He now has a break before tackling the final round and here is what he told The Irish Times he plans on doing with his spare time:

"I feel good. I’ll go back to the house now, have a second breakfast and chill out. I think there is a GAA game on TV so I get to watch a bit of that before the final round."

The Offaly native added that he is intent on staying composed in the final round, and is taking nothing for granted with first ever major now within his grasp.

"I’ve just got to go out and play my own game. No matter what happens, I just have to get up and play the next shot. I’m sure there are going to be little twists in the tale this afternoon, I will be expecting that, and we will just have to see how it goes. A few shot lead is obviously nice, but I’ll just have to go out and shoot the best score I can and see where that leaves me on the 18th green. If that’s good enough, I’ll be quite happy."
