IRFU And World Rugby launch 2017 Women's World Cup logo

The countdown to the 2017 Women's Rugby World Cup moved up a level on Thursday afternoon with the unveiling of the tournament logo.

Next year's World Cup is the first time that Ireland will be the host nation for either the men's or women's tournament. Games will be held in Dublin and Belfast with the final taking place in Kingspan Stadium on August 26th.

The tournament will be the second World Cup in a row to be held in Europe. France hosted the event two years ago, where Ireland created history by defeating the-then reigning champions New Zealand before eventually losing to England in the semi-finals.

Ireland lost the 3rd/4th place playoff to hosts France. The fourth place finish remains Ireland's best ever in a senior World Cup tournament.

The opening match will take place in UCD on August 9th. The draw for the event happen in Belfast in November.
