Ian Wright feels Man United have left Rashford "rotting" on the wing

Ian Wright has criticised the way Jose Mourinho has used Marcus Rashord at Manchester United this season.

Before the start of the Premier League campaign, there had been question marks about how much game-time the 19-year-old United attacking talent would receive under a manager not especially noted for showing patience when it comes to emerging talent.

The youngster remained on the bench for the first two league games of the season.

But Rashford has ultimately made over a dozen appearances this season, scoring four goals.

While he has been granted three 90 minute appearances, Rashford has been given a place on the wing, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic favoured by Mourinho to take up the central striking role.

Speaking on The Sun Goals podcast, Arsenal legend Wright thinks it's wrong to play the England international away from his favoured central role.

"Why is Marcus Rashford playing on the wing? He is a goal-scorer," said Wright.

"He has good movement and he can finish. They’ve left him on the wing and he’s rotting out there."

Rashford scored eight goals in his sensational debut season for United, ultimately earning himself a place in England's Euro 2016 squad.
