The Race to Dubai is very much at the forefront of Rory McIlroy's mind as the final weeks of the golf season commence.
The four-time major winner is in China for the WGC-HSBC Champions which he finished tied for sixth in 2013.
Speaking to Nick Dye of the European Tour, McIlroy is feeling confident after a few weeks away.
"My game's feeling good. I've just come off the back of three weeks off, so there might be a little bit of rustiness there. But I'm sort of working through it at the minute," he said.
"But I'm excited. It's a place I've done well at before and there's quite a lot to play for with the Race to Dubai on the line and trying to creep my way back up that gradually. So I'm excited."
And the Race to Dubai is very much on his mind, having won The Race to Dubai European Tour Golfer of the Year in 2012, 2014 and 2015.
"It's sort of one of these things where I've won it three of the last four years and I've sort of got used to ending the season on a bit of a high in Dubai. Thinking about it this year, I was really like I'd love to have that feeling again, having that feeling of capping the season off as best I possibly could and there's a few big opportunities coming up in the next few weeks to be able to try and emulate that success I've had there. That starts this week in Shanghai," he said.
Danny Willett currently leads the Race to Dubai standings ahead of Henrik Stenson, with McIlroy third. But the Northern Irishman is confident that he can close that gap by year's end.
"If I play the way I know that I can, hopefully I can pick up some of that ground going into Dubai," he said.
