"It has to happen" - Tony Bellew lays down the gauntlet to David Haye

World cruiserweight boxing champion Tony Bellew has once again put the pressure on David Haye to be his next opponent.

Bellew knocked out BJ Flores on Saturday to defend his WBC title at the first time of asking and immediately turned his focus on Haye who happened to be ringside.

The Liverpudlian did not hold back in his post-fight interview, telling Haye: "Listen, you predicted BJ was going to beat me, didn't you? You predicted he was going to beat me. He got smashed. And you're going to get smashed too. I don't care how dangerous you think you are.

"You know what, with 10oz gloves on boy, I'll put you and that pathetic haircut to sleep.

"Listen SpongeBob Squarepants, I'll deal with you in a boxing ring. I don't fear you. You've got this big aura around yourself, I don't care."

Almost a week on from the fight, Bellew has now told Sky Sports News that his promoter's now tasked with arranging the fight he really wants, as Haye earlier revealed that he had a big announcement to make on Thursday.

"I will do it anywhere, any time, any place. It really doesn't bother me. I've wanted to show that I'm one of the best fighters in the country," he said, adding that promoter Eddie Hearn was dealing with getting the fight organised and that both camps had spoken.

"I'm trying to let David know that I'm not playing games and he has to understand that this is not a walk in the park for him. This is not all about him, it's about me just as much as it's about him.

"It's got to happen. It has to happen in my opinion. I don't see anywhere else for David to go. He's said that he's got this announcement today, but we'll see."
