"It's over" says Louis Van Gaal as rumours of a Jose Mourinho replacement continues to simmer

Louis Van Gaal said 'it's over' to reporters as he left the Manchester United team hotel, earlier today.

The context of his comment is unclear but the likelihood at this stage, points to the appointment of Jose Mourinho in the coming days.

Sources in Britain continue to report that Jose Mourinho is poised to replace Louis Van Gaal in Old Trafford, despite the winning end to United's season in the FA Cup final yesterday.

His agent Jorge Mendes is expected to fly in to England this Tuesday, to finalise the details of his prospective contract.

Van Gaal seemed confident yesterday that his position would remain intact until next season, while other officials at Manchester United were said to have been furious about the intrusion of the Mourinho news on their celebrations.

Owners of the club have declined to offer a comment so far, having attended the FA Cup final in Wembley yesterday.

Mourinho is also in London at present and attended the David Haye v Arnold Gjergjaj fight at the O2 last night.

Meanwhile, Manchester United legend Gary Neville has said that should Mourinho get the appointment, it will be a short-lived venture.

Speaking on BBC Five Live Sportsweek programme, he said:

"I can’t see him staying too long at Man United, maybe two or three years, that seems to be his shelf life at a football club. When Jose finishes at a club it tends to be a pattern where he falls out with a few players, he gets disgruntled and the team dips."

"It happened at Chelsea, it certainly happened at Real Madrid where there were rumours he fell out with a few players."
