US Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III says he will seek advice from his team as he chooses his wildcard picks for the upcoming tournament in Hazeltine.

Love is looking to avoid a fourth straight US defeat in the competition, but has the likes USPGA Champion, Jimmy Walker, US Open Champion Dustin Johnson and Phil Mickelson, who was edged by Henrik Stenson in a classic Open Championship all included in his team.

"It's time for these eight to take ownership of this team," Love said.

"If they go in there believing in what we are telling them, that they have the best team, and that they are ready to go, then they are going to play well."

Love will have three players to add to his team, with Bubba Watson and Rickie Fowler both in the mix for a spot.

Darren Clarke is set to name his wildcard picks on Tuesday, with Luke Donald and Martin Kaymer among those in contention for a place in the final 12.
