Bournemouth say Jack Wilshere will not play again this season after suffering a hairline fracture of his lower leg.
The on loan Arsenal midfielder was forced off during the Cherries' Premier League defeat at Tottenham on Saturday.
It is a further injury blow to the England international having joined Bournemouth for regular first-team football after an injury ravaged few seasons at boyhood club Arsenal.
He will end the current campaign having managed to start just 22 matches.

The 25 year old first burst onto the scene in the 2009-10 season but truly made an impact the following campaign as he shone in a Champions League quarter final first leg win over eventual champions Barcelona.
He made 49 appearances in all competitions that season, leading to huge expectations about his future career for club and country.
However, his career has since beset by injury problems with a stress fracture to his ankle leading him to miss the entire 2011-12 season and only making sporadic appearances for Arsenal in subsequent seasons.
Wilshere, however, was part of England's squads for the 2014 World Cup and Euro 2016, although his impact was limited.
This season, he has provided two assists in 29 Premier League appearances for Bournemouth, although he has been the club's leading chance creator to date in the current campaign.
"We have loved working with him since he arrived at the club last August. He has made a huge contribution to our season, both on and off the pitch. We wish him a quick recovery and thank him for his effort and professionalism while he was with us," Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe told the club's official website.
