Pro boxers will be eligible to take part now
Irish middleweight fighter Jason Quigley has suggested that he is considering a late bid to participate at the Olympics Games this August.
The Donegal native, who has recently spoken about adapting to life in Los Angeles, is unbeaten from his 11 professional bouts since leaving the amateur ranks in 2012.
He has thrown out a hint that he would consider taking advantage of the recent rule change that could allow pro fighters to compete at Rio2016.
When asked on Twitter whether he would be interested in making himself available now that he is eligible, his reply was more in the affirmative:

He also added another tantalising tweet:

The Irish Athletic Boxing Association were among the national federations that voted in favour of the rule change earlier this week.
