Ireland's Jeff Hendrick scored the opening goal as Burnley beat Watford 2-0 at Turf Moor in Monday night's Premier League clash.

The midfielder headed in a Steven Defour corner on 38 minutes to put Sean Dyche's side 1-0 up against the Hornets.

Before the game, Hendrick had highlighted the need to make Turf Moor a fortress as Burnley aim for Premier League survival.

And the club's record signing set the tone with that header seven minutes before the break.

Burnley's second also came from a Defour corner with Michael Keane the beneficiary with another header on 50 minutes to put Burnley well in control.

The victory lifts Burnley from 17th up to 13th, while Watford remain two places above them in 11th.
