Jelena Ostapenko is into the women's final at the French Open tennis.

The 20 year old Latvian won her last four clash with Timea Bacsinszky in three sets: 7-6 3-6 6-3.

Ostapenko will take on either World Number 3 Karolina Pliskova or third seed Simona Halep.

That duo are in match action this evening.

Ostapenko has never previously reached a Grand Slam final and indeed, this is the first time she has progressed beyond the third round of any major tournament.

She reached the third round at the Australian Open in January which was the furthest she had advanced in Melbourne, the French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open until this competition at Roland Garros.
