Joey Barton "unlikely to play for Rangers again" - Report

Joey Barton's time at Rangers looks to be coming with the latest reports claiming that the midfielder has been instructed not to report to the club for training on Monday.

BBC Scotland report that the 34-year-old is unlikely ever to appear for the club again and that issues surrounding a training ground disagreement still have not been resolved.

Barton was involved in an argument with team-mate Andy Halliday and was suspended for three weeks in September.

He was asked to attend a club hearing this week but refused. Progress on resolving the disciplinary situation has reportedly reached a stalemate.

Barton, who joined from Burnley this summer on a two-year deal, remains on full pay and has also been accused by the SFA of breaching rules by placing 44 bets on matches between 1 July and 15 September.

Rangers said they would be launching a "formal disciplinary procedure" against Barton.

The SFA's disciplinary rule 33 prohibits players, coaches, club officials and referees in Scotland from betting on football anywhere in the world.

The parties will now appear at a hearing on 17 November.
