John Kavanagh's interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour has become tradition, on the Monday after a Conor McGregor fight.

The SBG Ireland coach spoke to Helwani from Las Vegas after McGregor defeated Nate Diaz by majority decision at UFC 202. It was the first time McGregor went the distance in his career in a five-round fight.

When asked by Helwani, if Saturday night's win was Kavanagh's most gratifying as a coach, he admitted it was that "this fight was possibly the toughest Conor is ever going to have".

The SBG coach also jokingly revealed that he was "slightly terrified" of Diaz's performance during the fight, as the California native seemed to easily absorb McGregor's punches.

"I was looking at him taking these heavy, heavy shots, smiling. In my head I'm going; 'I'm glad I'm on the outside here. This is insane.'"

"Conor hit him with everything. It's an incredible ability Nate has. That's why I think it's the toughest fight. At [155lbs] or [145lbs] anyone else that Conor lands those shots on, which he will, over a 25 minute period some of those shots are gonna land. They're all going to land. Only Nate can take those."

Kavanagh also revealed that despite McGregor holding the UFC Featherweight Title, he doesn't want to see the fighter returned to that weight-class any time soon.

"I really don’t see the point... With all due respect to the [featherweight] guys, especially after that fight with Nate, what are they going to do? What’s anyone going to do to him? I just think anyone he fights at that weight class, it’s almost like he’s cheating with the amount of power he has."
