Jonathan Walters will start in Ireland's opening game of the European Championships against Sweden this evening.

Martin O'Neill had insisted before kick-off that he would wait until the last minute to test the fitness of the Stoke forward.

O'Neill has opted to go with fan favourite Wes Hoolahan in the starting XI, while Southampton striker Shane Long will lead the line for Ireland this evening.
