Jordan Spieth chips in to win Travelers Championship

Jordan Spieth claimed his 10th PGA Tour title after a dramatic play-off win secured victory at the Travelers Championship in Connecticut on Sunday.

The young Texan led going into the final round on Sunday and despite opening with two birdies - he produced an erratic display thereafter.

He struggled with the putter and had dropped three shots by the time he left the 14th green. A birdie on the par-4 15th put him back in the lead on his own but a late surge from Daniel Berger took the championship to a play-off.

Berger fired his tee shot left as the pair played the 18th again to hand Spieth the initiative only for the two-time major winner to hit a tree with his effort. Luckily for him, the ball rebounded back onto the fairway but left him 215 yards from the green.

Spieth fired his approach into the green-side bunker while Berger landed on the green - only to roll off the edge and it appeared the play-off would continue onto another hole.

However, Spieth had other ideas and chipped his bunker shot in to leave Berger needing to sink his putt to keep the play-off alive. He missed from off the green to hand his rival the title.

Spieth has now claimed his 10th Tour title before the age of 24.

It was a good outing for both Padraig Harrington and Rory McIlroy who both posted tournament totals of six-under.

After struggling to make the cut, McIlroy changed his putter on Sunday and posted seven birdies as he charged up the leader-board. A bogie on the last was his only blemish as he posted a final round 64.

Harrington enjoyed a far more consistent tournament as the Dubliner carded three sub-par rounds to finish tied 17th alongside McIlroy.
