Jose Mourinho pens letter to Manchester United promising to change his ways

After another home defeat on Saturday, this time to Southampton courtesy of a Charlie Austin goal, Louis van Gaal wouldn't have been having the best of days anyway.

However, in a further blow, reports indicate that Jose Mourinho is doing his best to charm the decision makers at the club into giving him the job when Van Gaal leaves. The Dutch manager is under sever pressure, and while it looks as though he will leave in the summer, there's a chance that the decision to make a change may come sooner than that.

According to The Independent, Mourinho has penned a six page letter to the club, detailing how he can alter his style and play in the 'Manchester United way' that supporters have been calling for.

They report that there is a "considerable faction at the club" opposed to hiring Mourinho, with a number of reasons given, including the behaviour of the Portuguese and his poor track record in developing young talent.

The decision to write the letter was apparently taken after contact between Mourniho's agent Jorge Mendes and the club, and a "charm offensive" was launched which included the letter.

In it, the former Real Madrid and Inter Milan man details how much he wants the job, and how he could change his tactics to play in the way that the fans at Old Trafford would demand.

The letter also included a detailed breakdown of where things were going wrong for the club at the moment, and how Mourinho believes they could be fixed.

Although he is currently without a job, The Independent report that Moruinho is "relaxed" about his future and his chances of getting the job with the Manchester giants.
