Jose Mourinho praises match-winner Marcus Rashford

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has praised the efforts of Marcus Rashford, whose second-half goal has given United the advantage heading into next week's Europa League semi-final second leg.

The Premier League side take a one-goal lead back to Old Trafford to face Celta Vigo thanks to Rashford's wonderful freekick at the Estadio Municipal de Balaídos.

"He worked really hard and created problems," he said after the game. "He had a fantastic chance in the first half that forced a beautiful save.

"The freekick is really well taken, the goalkeeper has no chance."

The Portuguese manager put the young England forward's contribution down to the work done off the pitch and on the training ground.

"The freekick is work. He works every day. He wants to work. Sometimes training sessions finish for the group and he'll keep doing his individual work with my assistants."

Rashford was given the nod last night ahead of Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial as the lone striker. The 19-year-old is likely to be given more opportunities in a forward role in the absence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Swedish striker suffered knee ligament damage during United's quarter-final second leg against Anderlecht and will miss the rest of this season.

Rashford left the pitch last night with what looked like a knock and is likely to be rested ahead of United's clash with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
