Joy for Ireland as brothers take gold at European Rowing Championships

Their feat helped Ireland towards the top of the medal table

Irish brothers Paul and Gary O'Donovan claimed gold at the European Rowing Championships in Brandenburg, Germany on an impressive day for Irish competitors.

The pair claimed first place in the A Final of the lightweight double sculls.

Their time of 6:57.760 was enough to see of second-placed Germany and bronze medalists Norway.


Sanita Puspure finished third in the Women’s Single Sculls Final.

The results moved Ireland to sixth place overall in the medal table.
