Katie Taylor's promoter has sights on a hometown 2017 title fight

Eddie Hearn believes a world title fight in an Irish stadium could happen as early as 2017 for Katie Taylor, despite the five-time amateur world champion still yet to make her pro debut.

Talking to the Sunday World, the promoter said his confidence in Taylor's ability makes him believe she won't be waiting long for a world title fight, and expects her to run through her early opponents quickly.

Already looking ahead, the face of Matchroom Sports believes that an impressive run of victories could lead to the 2012 Olympic gold medalist fighting in Dublin in the near future.

"Katie is a superstar in Ireland and I think it is possible to stage her first world title fight in Dublin next summer.

"It might be a fight we look to put on at an outdoor stadium".

Taylor, who announced her decision to sign with Matchroom Sports on Thursday, will make her professional debut on November 26th at the Wembley Arena, London, before fighting on the Anthony Joshua undercard in Manchester just two weeks later.

Surprisingly, Taylor's decision to leave amateur boxing hasn't seen the media coverage expected. Speaking on Off The Ball's Sunday paper review, the Irish Daily Star's Kieran Cunningham was critical of the lack of coverage.

"I think the Katie Taylor going pro story, was the story of the week and one of the biggest stories of the week. The Sunday Indo, the Sunday Times or the Mail - there's not a single mention of Katie

"There's been a debate about the lack of woman in sports coverage and if you go through the papers, there's a hell of a lot of pictures of men and stories about men and men writing. There's not many women in there and the most successful sports person of all time from Ireland is Katie Taylor and a massive week has been ignored by a load of the papers which I find incredible."
