Keith Thurman wants title unification fight with Manny Pacquiao

Undefeated welterweight title holder Keith "One Time" Thurman has expressed an interest in a title unification bout with Manny Pacquiao later this year.

Thurman is coming off a career best split-decision win over Danny Garcia to become the WBC and WBA welterweight champion. The Florida native raced into a dominant lead in the bout only to take his foot off the pedal in the later rounds and claim a razor-thin decision victory.

Pacquiao, boxing's only eight weight champion, won a unanimous decision over WBO champion Jesse Vargas in November last year.

The Filipino had previously agreed a bout with Amir Khan for April but the funding for the fight fell through so he signed to fight the unheralded Jeff Horn at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia in July.

Speaking to TMZ this week, Thurman said: "I've got a lot more work to do. I just want to be the best fighter in the world. It's what I've been doing since I was a kid. I'm proud - we've got the family proud.

"It's kinda ironic that I'm the only welterweight in the world that holds two world titles and he's still ranked above me.

"At the end of the day we want that Pacman fight. I can't wait to negotiate that fight. Shoot, he can pick the date, he can pick anything he wants because I'm ready to put hands on him and show the world who 'One Time' Thurman really is," he added.
