Keith Wood's "holding out an element of optimism" for Connacht in their Toulouse quest

Keith Wood is optimistic that Connacht can get something out of their European Rugby Champions Cup opener against Toulouse on Saturday.

Pat Lam's side have regained their winning habit just in time for the start of the European campaign which means there is renewed hope that they can have an impact in Pool 2.

"They were two or three weeks behind everybody else in their preparation this season and ultimately they were going to get it right," ex-Ireland captain Keith said on Off The Ball.

"The fact and the manner in which they've got it right over the last two weekends has been phenomenal actually and their performance last weekend was pretty incredible.

"They weren't perfect against Edinburgh and last week either [against Ulster]. But they played with that pure energy  - enough to win those games. Will it be enough to win this game at the weekend? It could very well be and I would hold out an element of optimism for Connacht this weekend."
