Many subplots come to mind when you're voting for fellow football professionals, whether it's the PFA awards or the Ballon D'Or.
As FIFA revealed, Ireland captain and manager Robbie Keane and Martin O'Neill differed in their view of who they saw as the world's best player in 2015.
Ex-Ireland wideman Kevin Kilbane's system was quite simple for the English PFA awards as he told Off The Ball tonight.
"I was quite open about the fact that I used to vote for the Irish boys in the team of the year every year. Shay Given would always be in the team, Robbie Keane, Richard Dunne, Damien Duff, they'd be in my team every year," he said, adding that players should not be allowed to vote for club team-mates as they can do in the Ballon D'Or.
On a weekend which saw Aston Villa defender Micah Richards arguing with the club's supporters after the FA Cup draw against League Two Wycombe, the former Ireland international told us about the aftermath of the night when he raised two fingers at his own Sunderland fans after they had heckled him while on a pre-season tour.
"I had my best season at Sunderland after that happened. The abuse didn't continue. I remember going to take games after that and I had so many supporters coming over saying 'at least you showed a bit of backbone there' and that wasn't in my thought at all," he said, also speaking about how abuse of one player ends up affecting their team-mates.
