Kevin Long earns call-up to Ireland squad

Republic of Ireland manager Martin O'Neill has named a 37-man squad for his side's three games in June.

The team travel to the American east coast to play Mexico in New Jersey's MetLife Stadium on Thursday, June 1st. A friendly against Uruguay in Dublin on Sunday, June 4th, followed by the World Cup qualifier against Austria on Sunday, June 11 completes the schedule.

Burnley defender Kevin Long is the only player to earn a call-up to the squad for the first time, but there are a number of uncapped players on the list including Aberdeen striker Adam Rooney and Reading's Liam Kelly.

There is no place in the squad for either Cork City striker Sean Maguire or Cillian Sheridan. The Cavan-born striker is impressing in the Polish top-tier with Jagiellonia Bialystok.

Several players were unavailable due to injury, including Seamus Coleman and David Meyler.

A number of players will report for a three-day training camp in Fota Island on May 23rd before the full squad links up in Dublin five days later.
