Kevin McStay identifies key problem Roscommon must overcome against Galway

Roscommon manager Kevin McStay is confident that his side can put it up to Galway in the 2017 Connacht Football Final.

His side saw off Leitrim comfortably in Sunday's semi final by a 2-23 to 1-9 scoreline at Dr Hyde Park.

Galway beat Roscommon in last year's Connacht decider by an 11 point margin but McStay sounded a confident tone when he spoke to Off The Ball's Dave McIntyre about his expectations this time around.

"I have every good faith that we'll put up a good show in this final. We'll be very confident that we won't die wondering about Galway. We will tear into them and give them a good shot," he said.

However, he did cite the size differential against Galway, "The big problem is just size. Galway have massive size compared to us. So that's going to be a huge stretch on kickouts and just on primary possession."

But McStay also spoke of the physical improvements made by the panel as part of their development over the past three years.

"This is their third year in a proper professional [S&C setup]. John Evans would have started it. We would have moved it on a bit last year and I’d like to think we’d really moved it on again. So it’s a four or five year thing, this strength and conditioning, to get up to the Kildares and Dublins and Kerrys," he said, adding that it's "not half good enough for what we're facing against Galway".
