Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says Steven Gerrard will not be coming back to play at Anfield.
Earlier reports suggested the new boss had spoken to the former captain about a possible return.
The midfielder's Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy have finished their season.
While Klopp says he has spoken to Gerrard, he emphasised that the ex-England captain would only be training with the squad.
"If he is in Liverpool and wants to train ahead of next season in LA, that's absolutely no problem. Nothing else," said Klopp.
Gerrard departed Liverpool at the end of last season, having spent his entire career up to then at his hometown club.
