Kompany blow for Man City as Real set up all-Madrid Champions League final

Real Madrid have beaten Manchester City 1-0 to book their place in the 2016 Champions League final.

And for a second time in three years, it will be an all-Madrid final with city rivals Atletico awaiting the La Liga giants.

After a goalless draw in last week's first leg, the single goal for Real was enough to get past Man City in tonight's semi-final second leg.

City suffered an early blow when captain and defensive lynchpin Vincent Kompany was forced off with injury within 10 minutes of kick-off.

Bale played a decisive role in breaking the deadlock on 20 minutes for Real.

Cutting in from the right, he chipped the ball into the net on 20 minutes, via a deflection and with the help of the post to give his side a 1-0 lead.

The Spanish side then had a Sergio Ramos goal ruled out for offside when the free-kick was originally played in.

Fernandinho had a great chance to equalise for City when Kevin De Bruyne found him in space towards the end of the first half but the resultant shot just struck the post.

But Real then hit the woodwork when Bale's header struck the bar and the Spanish side hung on to set up a decider against Atletico at the San Siro later this month.
