Chan Sung Jung returned to the Octagon at the weekend for the first time since 2013 and made a huge statement stopping Dennis Bermudez in the first round.

"The Korean Zombie" hadn't fought since losing to UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo in August, 2013.

A shoulder injury, followed by two years mandatory military service in his native South Korea, meant the highly rated prospect missed a considerable part of his fighting career as he entered his prime.

The promotion didn't give the Asian fighter a 'tune-up' bout to ease himself back into fold and he faced off with number nine ranked Dennis Bermudez.

Bermudez went into the bout on the back of two wins and a win over the former title challenger would likely throw him into title contention over the coming year.

However, Jung made short work of the American, stopping him via knockout halfway through the first round.

He also earned a performance of the night bonus for the impressive stoppage.

His return invigorates the division and offers exciting match-ups with Frankie Edgar, Max Holloway and even a rematch with Jose Aldo in 2017.
