Koscielny would be disappointed without Champions League football

Defender Laurent Koscielny insists Arsenal set out to win the league every year and that missing out on Champions League qualification would be a huge disappointment.

The Gunners head into the final two matches of the season needing to win both their matches and hope Man City and/or Liverpool slip up.

Arsene Wenger's side welcome relegated Sunderland to the Emirates on Tuesday while Man City host West Brom at the Etihad.

The Londoners trail City by three points with the same number of games played. However, a win tonight, will see them head into the final day of fixtures just a point behind Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool.

"We perform every weekend to be in the top four and to fight for the title over the season," he told Sky Sports.

"To not be in the Champions League next season would be a very disappointing situation for us but we will fight until the end to have as much of a chance to be there next season.

"The Champions League is a competition that a player wants to play in because you play against the best teams in Europe and it is always an important competition," he added.

Arsenal have qualified for European football's top competition annually since 1996 and missing out this year would be a huge blow to under-pressure manager, Arsene Wenger.

The Frenchman was due to make a decision about his future in April but is yet to announce his plans.
