Kyle Lafferty gives Northern Ireland an injury scare ahead of Euro 2016 opener

Kyle Lafferty pulled up in training on Tuesday morning, to give manager Michael O'Neill a major selection scare ahead of the start of Euro 2016.

Lafferty was Northern Ireland's top scorer in qualifying for the tournament. He scored seven goals as the team topped Group F.

The Norwich striker pulled up in the second day of training in the team's base in Saint-Georges-de-Reneins as the team continue to settle into life in France.

According to O'Neill, Lafferty only tweaked his groin and was taken off as a precaution. Despite the scare, the manager feels Lafferty will be fit for the tournament.

The team begin their Euro 2016 journey on Sunday against Poland in Nice. Northern Ireland have also been drawn against World champions Germany and Ukraine.

Northern Ireland go into the tournament with the longest unbeaten run of all the competing nations. The team last lost a game in March 2015 in a friendly against Scotland. The team are unbeaten in 12 matches.
