Lance Armstrong "not surprised" by Bradley Wiggins' TUE revelation

Lance Armstrong refused to be drawn on his thoughts regarding the potential doping involved in today's cycling world during his exclusive interview on Off The Ball this evening.

The former cyclist did however divulge that the recent revelations surrounding Bradley Wiggins' TUE use of a banned steroid didn't come as a shock to him.

When questioned by host Ger Gilroy on the Team Sky rider's legal use of a banned steroid, Armstrong said "I don't know. I don't know, I'm not surprised by that. I mean, theoretically he was within the rules, so there's not much we can do about that".

After being quizzed further about whether he believed the recent doping allegations that have surrounded Team Sky, Armstrong stood by his earlier description of his current role in the sport and knowledge of doping, stating that he wouldn't know as he could not be further removed from the cycling world.

"People ask me all the time about this stuff. I'd love to answer the question, but I'm so detached from the sport. Nobody in the sport of cycling is going to talk to me. If they know something, if they want to share, they don't come to me, I'm the last person that anybody in cycling is going to talk to about that stuff. So I'd love to give you the answer, but I don't have the answer".

Armstrong, who had earlier stated that he "was a complete dickhead" in the way that he dealt with Paul Kimmage during his investigation of the doping scandal that surrounded the cyclist, drew criticism online from listeners when he ended the half-hour interview by hanging up without a sign-off.
