A lawyer for Michael Schumacher has confirmed that the seven-time Formula 1 champion cannot walk.

He made the comments as part of a lawsuit against German magazine Bunte who had claimed that the former Ferrari driver had regained the ability to walk again.

They had quoted an unnamed family friend as saying that the 47-year-old had been able to take a few steps as well as raising an arm.

Schumacher suffered severe head injuries in a December 2013 skiing accident and details about his recovery have been few and far between since then.

Schumacher is currently being treated at his home in Switzerland by a team of doctors.

Lawyer Felix Damm told a court that "he cannot walk" in the case against Bunte.
