LeBron James set for starring role in Space Jam 2

The Hollywood Reporter say the sequel to the 1996 film featuring Michael Jordan has begun production

Space Jam looks set to return to the big screen for the first time in 20 years and this time will feature LeBron James in the starring role.

Fast & Furious 6 and Star Trek Beyond director Justin Lin is set to take the helm for the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Cleveland Cavaliers player, who recently appeared in Amy Schumer comedy Trainwreck, will star in Space Jam 2 in a role similar to that of Michael Jordan back in 1996.

The first film, a live action/animation hybrid starred Jordan and a collection of Looney Tunes cartoon characters who teamed up to play taken on aliens threatening their freedom in a game of basketball.
