League of Ireland champions Dundalk victims of theft at Oriel Park

League of Ireland champions Dundalk say the break-in to their offices at Oriel Park is "extremely disappointing" and that a Garda investigation is now underway.

The club have been left to pick up the pieces after intruders caused "significant damage" to property and stole a number of items.

A laptop, kindle and a number of jerseys set to be auctioned off for local charities have been stolen, as well as shirts from last year’s league and cup winning team which were due to be given to the club’s sponsors.

Speaking to The42 a spokesperson said: "It’s extremely disappointing. We have worked hard in the local area to make the club the bedrock of the community and it’s disappointing people choose to do this.”

"Unfortunately the club is the victims this time around, it will be someone else next week.”

LMFM report that the incident happened  between 5am and 7.30am on Tuesday morning.
