Leicester Tigers sign Dominic Ryan from Leinster

Leicester Tigers have confirmed the signing of Ireland flanker Dominic Ryan from Leinster.

The Tigers have also brought in Tonga rugby union forward Sione Kalamafoni from Gloucester, as well as Yorkshire Carnegie duo Joe Ford and Jonah Holmes.

Ford will now play alongside his brother and England fly half George at Welford Road.

Reacting to the move Ryan told LeicesterTigers.com that he was looking forward to a new challenge, having progressed from the Leinster academy and into the first team.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with Leinster and Irish rugby over the last seven years, but it is time for a new challenge in my career and I'm delighted to sign for Leicester Tigers, as they are one of the great clubs in European rugby. I'm also excited to work with Matty again because he had such a great impact on my career at Leinster," he said.

Leicester Tigers head coach Matt O'Connor, who previously coached at Leinster, spoke of Ryan's versatility as a factor in bringing the player in.

"Dom is an experienced professional who plays all across the back row. He wins collisions on both sides of the ball and comes from an environment that understands the narrative of winning," he said.
