Leicester target Sporting Lisbon star and agree club record fee

Islam Slimani looks to be on his way to the Premier League champions for £34m

Claudio Ranieri is looking to break Leicester City's club record transfer fee for a third time this summer with the arrival of Islam Slimani from Sporting Lisbon.

A fee has been agreed between the two teams worth in the region of €40m (£34m).

The forward is undergoing a medical today and is set to join the the Premier League champions before the transfer window closes at 11pm tonight. 

The striker scored 27 league goals for Sporting in the league last year, scoring 31 in all competitions.

He will now leave Algeria’s training camp as they prepare for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Lesotho to sign for Leicester.
