The Premier League champions need to build a better squad ahead of a difficult season
Leicester have signed former France Under-21 midfielder Nampalys Mendy from Nice on a four-year deal.
The Premier League champions will face a different proposition next year s they compete in the Champions League and as a result feel compelled to reinforce their squad in important areas.
The 24-year-old Mendy played in every game for Nice last season and is similar to N'Golo Kante in keeping possession and being able to tackle immaculately without being too forceful.
Kante and Danny Drinkwater missed only four games between them last season and made up a midfield that repelled the best Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal had to throw at them but Claudio Ranieri has acted fast to make sure there are options beyond Kante and Drinkwater next season.
Many experts suggested that part of Leicester's success was the lack of injuries they sustained, which was helped by the fact that their competition in the league were playing in the Champions League and suffered key injuries and fatigue at important moments of the season.
