Leo Cullen "reasonably positive" Stuart Lancaster will stay on at Leinster

Leinster head coach Leo Cullen says he is "reasonably positive" that Stuart Lancaster will stay on as part of the Irish province's backroom staff.

Speaking on today's Off The Ball, Cullen said that - without announcing anything - both sides were "keen" to continue their good work this season.

The former England head coach has been with Leinster since last September and committed to stay until the end of the current season.

"He adds a lot to the environment in terms of the experience that he's had at the high end," Cullen told Ger Gilroy.

"How you prepare teams in those small windows. He's used to taking guys from different clubs and getting them organised. You have to keep the plan very specific, so he's very good in that regard.

"He's a real student of the game and he's a real student of sport. One of the real attractions about talking to Stuart was just the amount of experiences he has picked up in his time since England.

"From a defensive point of view we're watching the Ireland games and understanding the system, tweaking things slightly... He's been a great addition to the group.

"I think we're all reasonably keen to progress, we're all working away behind the scenes. It's looking reasonably positive at the moment without announcing anything."

Cullen pointed out that working with so many different characters in his staff has helped him develop his own skills as a coach.

"You try learn what you can from these guys. Stuart, when his name came up and he came over, we spent a good bit of time together.

"You really get a sense that this is the kind of guy who can really add value to what you're trying to do here at the moment and over time. He's been fantastic since he's come in."
